Current Information:Born-Battersea Norfolk Cemetery, Becordel-Becourt, France 18th Division, including 7th Royal West Surrey (Queens) of 55 Brigade, arrived in France at end of July, 1915 and after a period of training moved to the Somme area, recently take over from the French Army. This was a sector where a lot of mining was taking place and on 20th October, 1915, 7 men from 7th Royal West Surrey (Queens), working with the Brigade mining section, were killed when the Germans exploded a mine at the Tambour near Fricourt. |
